Amidst continued protests, Baltimore police today announced plans for a bake sale to help rebuild relationships with local communities. At the announcement, Chief Commissioner Chad Jackson confirmed that the initiative was by far the most popular of those suggested by the Obama administration. Speaking to reporters, Jackson made the following statement: “The Baltimore Police Department reiterates its support for local minority communities. We hope that this bake sale can allow these communities to see the softer side of the police, as they sell delicious baked goods such as brownies, double chocolate chip cookies, and Wendy’s famous seven layer bar!” The bake sale will be taking place on May 10th at the Johns Hopkins campus as a part of a school-wide scheme to help reduce stress amongst the student population. All proceeds will go the municipal munitions department, whose officials cite “hugely increased usage” as a primary cause for the current deficit.
