The Best and Worst Dressed at the World Leaders Forum

Each year, when the United Nations convenes, Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger invites various heads of state and government to address students and faculty at Columbia as part of the World Leaders Forum; so each year, we get to see which countries’ leaders are promoting a fashion growth, or peddling a fashion nope.

Best Dressed

His Excellency Dr. Hage G. Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia

Donald Trump may not know anything about Namibia, but he’s not going to forget the way President Geingob paired this bold vertical-striped suit with that diagonally-striped tie and pocket square. Usually, clashing stripes are a no-go; but on this one, we’re with ya, Namibia!

Her Excellency Atifete Jahjaga, President of the Republic of Kosovo

President Jahjaga glamorously walks the line between sexy and refined. Her midnight black suit is brilliantly paired with a black broach, lined in delicate gold. They say the Balkans are complicated, but we can all agree on those full, yet understated earrings. This is one bang-able eastern European head of government.

Her Excellency Michelle Bachelet, President of the Republic of Chile

A perennial favorite for Best Dressed, President Bachelet strikes just the right note in her white jacket and black blouse. Though her double-looped pearl necklace draws the eye, we still get to see plenty of that glowing Bachelet-skin.

Worst Dressed

His Excellency Juan Manuel Santos, President of the Republic of Colombia

Oh boy, where to begin with this disaster? How coked up was President Santos’ tailor when he brought in the shoulders on the suit? And don’t even get us started on that puffy sleeve. Yeesh!

Her Excellency Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado, Vice President of the Republic of Panama

Typically a hot Pana-mama, VP Saint Malo de Alvarado aims for a conservative look that, frankly, really misses the mark. Forgettable diamond earrings, no necklace, and no cleavage?! We expect more from you, girl.

His Excellency Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic

That jacket - enough said.
